Australian Army Medical Women’s Service Ambassador had arrived in South AfricaAustralian Army Medical Womens Service The badge was worn by members of the Australian Army Medical Womens Service (AAMWS), was established in 1942, replacing the Voluntary Aid Detachment that had carried out nursing and Red Cross duties. The AAMWS served in Australia, New Guinea, Borneo, Singapore, and Japan. The women serving with the AAMWS worked as nursing and dental orderlies in blood banks, radiology, and pathology. They also performed office
